Global Youth Concept Executive Board

 

Froilan Malit '10, President & Founder: Froilan Malit is a senior at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and is studying government, global migration and international development. Froilan spent much of his childhood working for land and farm owners in the Philippines. In 2008, he was as an associate in the Department of Labor in Ithaca, New York, and also served as a paralegal intern with Bruce Gitlin P.C. in New York City. In addition, Froilan conducted his senior thesis fieldwork in conjunction with various non-governmental organizations in Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica and the Philippines. In his spare time, Froilan enjoys playing volleyball, running, badminton, tennis, rock climbing, and painting.

 

Ishan Chellaney '11, Chief Operating Officer: Ishan Chellaney is a junior Economics major with minors in Law & Society and International Relations. As an expatriate, he spent much of his childhood abroad in France, Turkey, India, and Italy. He spent his last summer working at the Corporate & Investment Banking division of BNP Paribas. The summer before, Ishan interned with the United Nations in its International Fund for Agricultural Development in Rome, Italy. In addition to his role as COO of GYC, he is an Arts & Sciences Peer Advisor, serves on the executive board of the Cornell Investment Club, and works for the Institute for African Development at the Mario Einaudi Center for International Relations. He is also currently doing research on the effects of the recent fiscal-stimulus package in Mainland China on national output and employment. In his spare time, he enjoys running and golf, and his interests also include the political economy of development, international finance and globe-trotting.

 

 

 

Carlo Lutz '11, Vice President, Internal Affairs - Carlo Lutz is a junior Sociology major from New York City. He will be attending Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Fall 2011. He is also minoring in Inequality Studies, and in Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies. He is interested in the role of globalization and development in growing global inequality and its effect on health and education outcomes in the Third World. He is also studying the dynamics of contemporary progressive movements to understand how change is being fought for in America. Carlo plans on practicing medicine for 15-20 years before entering the public sector.

 

Alisha Gulamani '12, Vice President for External Affairs: Alisha Gulamni is a sophomore in the School of Hotel Administration in Cornell University. She is currently the VP of Organizational Affairs of Hotelie Entrepreneurs, and is a consultant to the new DrivingRevenue.Travel marketing website. Her interests include cross country running, sailing, hotel development and international development.

 

Patricia Baquiran '12, Secretary: Patricia Baquiran, who is from New York City, is a sophomore in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations. At Cornell, she is Secretary of Global Youth Concept, an OMEA Peer Mentor, and an ILR Ambassador. Patricia hopes to hone her skills in labor and employment law and labor economics and later work towards earning a JD degree after graduation.
